Day 1: Iquitos. Cumaceba Lodge.- Traveling down the Amazon River, see medicinal plants and the wildlife of the reserve, night jungle walk to hear the sound of the tropical rain forest animals.

ITINERARY DETAILS

Day 1: Iquitos. Cumaceba Lodge.- 

Traveling down the Amazon River, see medicinal plants and the wild life of the reserve, night jungle walk to hear the sound of the tropical rain forest animals
Reception in the airport, transfer R/T brief city tours. Transfer to the main harbor to meet our speed boat in order to visit the floating houses in the district of “Belen”, located on the edge of the Itaya River, continue traveling down the Amazon River to arrive at our ecological reserve “Cumaceba Lodge“. Reception with a typical welcome drink, and accommodation in the bungalows (all with private bathrooms), typical lunch followed by a trek into the forest to see medicinal plants and the wild life of the reserve.

Depending on the weather, we may see the Sunset before a night jungle walk to hear the sound of the tropical rain forest animals and the see various nocturnal insects and frogs. Dinner and overnight.


Day 2: Cumaceba Lodge.- 

Bird watching, visit the native community of Yagua, Tour on the Amazon river, varieties of animals: Sloths, monkeys, turtles, caimans, anaconda and boa constrictor
Early canoe ride for bird watching in their natural habitat of the “Shansho lagoon” our biological area. Breakfast, and visit to the native etnia “Yagua” to see their native customs and hear their own dialect, demonstration of the old way of typical hunting with the “Pucuna” or Blowgun”.

Possibility to buy or trade handy crafts before a typical lunch.

“Papagayo Tropical Bird Watching”

After lunch, a tour on the Amazon river visiting a native who preserves some varieties of animals like sloths, monkeys, turtles, caimans (alligators), the famous Anaconda and red tail Mantona boa “Constrictor , (non poisonous!). Amazon Sunset, nocturnal excursion in canoe by the lagoon with the possibility of observing Caimans. Dinner and overnight.


Day 3: Cumaceba Lodge – Monkey Island

  • Breakfast. Amazon trip visiting a private primate conservation project with 5 different endangered species.

  • Lodge return.

  • Tour in canoe.

  • Typical music performance.

  • Overnight in Cumaceba Lodge.


Day 4: Cumaceba Lodge.- 

The giant Victoria Regia water lilies, fish for piranhas, cat fish, fresh water sardines- Iquitos
Breakfast and canoe ride in the Shansho lagoon to the giant ‘Victoria Regia’ water lilies, with a bilingual guide experienced in ecology. We visit another lake to fish for piranhas, catfish, freshwater sardines, after which we will return to the Lodge and have a typical buffet lunch with your bilingual guide.
