Description: This itinerary was planned and designed for those wishing to experience the wonder, culture, mysticism and a joyful New Year’s holidays in Lima and Cusco, Peru. The below dates are only a recommendation. This itinerary can be customized, shortened or lengthened to accommodate your international Lima arrival and departure dates.

December 27: Arrival in Lima.

December 28: City Tour Lima.

December 29: Cusco flight. Cusco City Tour.

December 30: Sacred Valley of the Incas, Ollantaytambo.

December 31: Machu Picchu.

January 1: Cusco Free Day, New Years Day.

January 2: Cusco – Lima.

ITINERARY DETAILS

Day 1: (Dec 27, 2024) Arrival in Lima

New Year Cusco 2020 & Machu Picchu tours welcome and reception at Lima airport to begin this unforgettable experience!. Private transfer in our secure car to your Miraflores or San Isidrio, Lima hotel of your choice.

Day 2: (Dec 28, 2024) City Tour Lima

At 2PM you will be met in your hotel’s lobby by your guide and taken on a wonderful Lima City Tour. Visit the Plaza Mayor, San Francisco Convent & catacombs off Lima’s Main Square.

Optional visit to Museo Larco, a privately owned museum in a lovely 18th century viceroyalty mansion with grounds, gardens and a nice restaurant built over a 7th-century pre-Columbian pyramid. It contains over 5000 years of history and pre-Columbian art in chronologically laid out galleries showcasing ancient culture, textiles, sacrifices, erotic pottery, ceremonial vessels, warfare, ancestry, gold, jewelry, art and sculpture from all Peru. You will returned to your hotel after the tour.

Day 3: (Dec 29, 2024) Lima-Cusco flight. Cusco City Tour

In the morning your private car will meet you in your hotel and take you to the Lima airport for your flight SE over the Andes to the Imperial City of Cusco (approx 1:10 hrs). You will be greeted in the Cusco airport and transferred to your hotel in the heart of historic Cusco. After a brief rest and acclimatization to Cusco’s 11,000 feet elevation, you may begin your Private Cusco City Tour. Visiting the most important archaeological sites around the city of Cusco: Koricancha, Sacsayhuamán, Kenko, Pucapucara and Tambomachay. Return to your hotel after the tour around sundown. Bring hats and jackets since it will be sunny and windy in the afternoon.

Day 4: (Dec 30, 2024) Sacred Valley of the Incas. Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes train

After breakfast, you will be greeted by your guide in your hotel to begin your tour of the magnificent Sacred Valley. Drive north from Cusco in your private van with your guide and driver to see glaciers, farms, small towns, and beautiful landscapes as you approach the majestic Sacred River Mountains. This tour will start in Pisac craft market place where we can appreciate handmade artistic work, fabrics and fine jewelry.

If you wish to you can visit the Pisaq ruins high above the town. The stonework and archaeological wonders their rival anything in the area. Continuing west, drive through the valley along the Urubamba River to a delicious local buffet lunch at one of the best restaurants in the Valley. After lunch continue to the Architectural and Hydraulic wonder of Ollantaytambo, a small town that still retains some of its original Inca construction. Climb Ollantaytambo’s famous wall the defended the Sacred Valley to the north. Board the train at Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu (2 hours) where your hotel staff will be waiting to escort you to your hotel.

Day 5: (Dec 31, 2024) Machu Picchu Tour. New Year Cusco 2024

If you wish to, after breakfast, you can visit Machu Picchu with your guide before the sunrise to experience the citadel at its finest hour. Take one of the continuous buses up (20 minutes) to the park entrance. Spend time with your guide then hike and explore on your own before taking one of the continuous buses back down to Aguas Calientes in time for your train back to Cusco. You will be greeted in the train station and driven back to your Cusco hotel. New Year’s festivities tonight in Cusco’s main square.

Day 6: (Jan 1, 2024) Cusco Free Day, New Years Day

Take this day to explore Cusco, relax and take in the magnificent city. Visit the neighborhood of San Blas, wander the small streets and visit the huge San Pedro market.

OPTIONAL: Private Tour of Tipon waterworks engineering site 1 hour east of Cusco.

Day 7: (Jan 2, 2025) Cusco – Lima

After breakfast and hotel check out you will be greeted in your hotel and driven by private car to the Cusco airport for your flight to Lima and return home.
