Description: This tour is designed around seeing one of the new 7 Wonders of the World “Machu Picchu Tours“. Take the Lima City Tour and enjoy Miraflores for an evening. The next day you will be flying to the majestic city of Cusco, the jewel of the Inca culture. Here you will experience the Tour Sacred Valley of the Incas and see some of the finest stonework ever created in the world. Cusco, the surrounding Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu, wrapped in mysticism, still generate an incredible energy that will make this one of your most memorable trips.

Cusco airport greeting and private transfer to your hotel. Check-in and relax for a few hours to acclimate to Cusco’s elevation (11,000 ft or 3,300 meters).
During your first day in Cusco, you should drink the complimentary coca tea in your hotel, don’t exert yourself, don’t eat hard to digest food. At 2 PM take the Group Cusco City Tour.
See the archaeological sites to the north of the city. The tour includes visits to the famous archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman with its magnificent monolithic stones, Q’enqo, the fountains at Tambomachay and Puca Pucara.
Return to the Hotel after the Cusco City Tour.
Checkout out your hotel after breakfast. You will be away for 3 nights then return here for one more night. Bring your passport, swimsuit and just what you will need for Machu Picchu and 3 nights away. You can travel light the next 4 days and 3 nights by leaving behind the bulk of your luggage in your Cusco hotel.
In the morning you will be greeted at your hotel by your guide and driven 30 minutes NE of Cusco to the ancient site of Pisaq. One of the finest Inca accomplishments is high above the town of Pisaq.
Pisaq is the Incan ruins that guarded the eastern entrance to the Sacred Valley. Pisaq was built with the finest quality masonry that can be seen anywhere in and around Cusco including Machu Picchu, Tipon, and Sacsayhuaman. With your guide begin a picturesque ascent through agricultural terraces always climbing higher along rock and dirt paths and stairs.
This is a medium-difficult hike that requires 3 to 4 hours. Water and energy snacks are recommended to bring for the hike. Once at the top you will be amazed to see the well laid out small citadel. You will be met at the Pisaq ruins by car. For the next 2 hours enjoy a beautiful ride through the Sacred Valley.
Stop for lunch in Urubamba before continuing to Ollantaytambo to check in to your hotel.
Check-out of your hotel after breakfast and leave your bags in hotel storage. You will be greeted by your guide to tour the ancient Inca city of Ollantaytambo, the Inca’s northern fortress city that guarded the Sacred Valley in the north. Here you will appreciate the complexity of the magnificent Inca construction built in accordance with the landscape.
The pueblo of Ollantaytambo still retains its original Inca style and layout. After hiking the walls around Ollantaytambo you’ll descend and trek through its winding back streets.
In the later afternoon, you will retrieve your bags from your hotel and board the Backpacker Train to Aguas Calientes where you will be met and escorted to the Hanaqpacha Hotel. Meet with your Machu Picchu guide in the evening in your hotel to discuss the next day’s plan to visit Machu Picchu. Overnight Aguas Calientes.
Bring your passport up to the Machu Picchu entrance to get it stamped. This day you can be at Machu Picchu at sunrise if you wish. You will be greeted by your guide and taken by bus up to Machu Picchu, one of the most remarkable and enigmatic archaeological sites in the world. Few works made by man are as harmonious with nature as the citadel of Machu Picchu.
The “Lost City” is located at the top of a flattened mountain. Enjoy the wonders of Machu Picchu with your guide to see the Sacred District, the Popular District to the south and the District of Royalty in the urban sector. Visit the Temple of the Sun, the Room of the Three Windows and Temple of the Condor.
If you want to climb Huayna Picchu you should be out of your hotel by 5 AM to get on the bus and your name on the list. After the tour returns to Aguas Calientes by bus and boards your train to Cusco (Poroy) where you will be met and taken to the hotel.
After breakfast, you will check-out of your hotel, greeted and taken to the 07:00 tourist bus for your 8 hours guided tour to Puno. Stopping along the way you will visit the Sistine Chapel of the Andes, Andahuaylillas. This is a very pretty cathedral with frescoes on almost every wall. Sorry, no pictures allowed. The temple ruins at Raqchi are magnificent at the second stop. There are remains of cottages, warehouses, and terraces and it is a beautifully excavated clean site.
The remains of the largest Incan church are there and the tight stonework left standing is incredible. Next at the small town of Sicuani, you’ll stop for a sit-down relaxing outdoor buffet Andean lunch. The next stop is La Raya, the highest point on the route at 4,300 meters elevation.
The final stop is the museum in Pukara to see the ancient pre-Incans artifacts. When you arrive in Puno you will be met and taken to Balsa Inn by private car to check-in.
After breakfast, you will be taken to Titicaca lake for a visit to the floating man-made Islands of Uros on a group motor yacht tour. Here you will meet, up-close the citizens who have preserved their old traditions and still live on the water. “The Aquatic Tribe” will show you how they have kept their customs, make their islands and display their crafts made of reeds.
For an additional very small tip (5 soles per person) they will take you for a short optional ride on one of their reed boats if you wish.
The motor yacht tour then continues to the Greece-like steep island of Taquile, inhabited by native Quechuas. On Uros and Taquille you can appreciate and purchase some of the finest handmade crafts and basket weavings in Perú to support the very friendly and welcoming island people. Typical lunch on Taquile Island. At night return to Puno by boat where your van will be waiting to return you to the Hotel.
After breakfast, check out of your hotel. You will be met at your hotel and taken to the bus terminal for your bus to Copacabana, Bolivia. This is a very pretty drive around Titicaca lake. There will be attendants on the bus that will help you cross the border into Bolivia through immigration (US$135 Bolivian visa for Americans).
Once you are in Bolivia Copacabana is only 15 minutes away. You will arrive too late to get the boat to the Isla del Sol this day so enjoy the beachside town of Copacabana. Climb to the top of the La Virgen de la Candelaria de Copacabana (no guide needed) for a magnificent view of Titicaca lake, Peru and Bolivia. Overnight Copacabana Hotel.
In the morning checkout of the Hotel Rosario and store what luggage you don’t want to take to the Isla del Sol for the next 2 days. Board your motor yacht to the Isla del Sol. This is a 2-hour picturesque boat ride. On the Isla del Sol you will be met and escorted to the Estancia Eco-lodge at the top of the island. Someone will carry your bags for you.
This is a one-hour uphill walk. Take your time and pace yourself. Stop often to take in the views of this remote place. At the hotel enjoy some coca tea and relax in your quarters. In the afternoon explore. Dinner will be served family-style in the main house. Check out the stars at night when it will be cold.
Country breakfast. This is the day to do some serious relaxing, meditating and inner reflection. Hike, read, contemplate, take photos and explore. You will run across children walking who will want you to take their picture for a few Bolivianos. Dinner will be served in the main house. Nighttime Stargazing. Overnight Isla del Sol Estancia Eco Lodge.
Checkout. After a great breakfast, descend to the shores for the motor yacht back to Copacabana. A porter or donkey will carry your packs down. The 2-hour boat ride will bring you back to Copacabana in time for the 3-hour bus ride back to Puno. In Puno, you will be greeted and taken to your hotel to check-in. Overnight Puno Balsa Inn.
After breakfast check-out of your hotel. You will be driven to the Juliaca airport for your flight to Lima. Pay your exit taxes. In Lima, you will be greeted and taken on the Lima City Tour. Lima is called “The City of Kings”. Visit the Plaza Mayor de Lima and the 16th-century Cathedral of gold, followed by a tour of the catacombs at the Convento de San Francisco and the Museum of Gold.
These are the most popular tourist attractions in Lima. We will end our tour in one of the wealthiest residential and most beautiful districts in Lima, Miraflores. There visit the only pre-Inca ruin remaining there, Huaca Pucllana. Constructed in the 2nd century AD it was considered by the Incas as a “Sacred Town” and was a busy ceremonial and administrative center. END OF SERVICES
