Visit the Peruvian coast

The Peruvian coast is a jewel from the month of January until April, thanks to the summer almost all the Peruvian coast is requested by thousands of tourists who arrive to Peru. The Peruvian gastronomy of the coast

The best season to visit the coast is in summer (from December to March). Archaeological centers, such as:

  • Lima: Is the capital city of Peru as well as its largest and most important city. According to the census of 2007 the population of Lima is 7,605,742 inhabitants, however, the integrated metropolitan area of Lima and Callao houses 8,482,619 inhabitants, which is equivalent to 30% of the Peruvian population.
  • Parque de la Reserva: is a park located in the neighborhood of Santa Beatriz in the city of Lima, capital of Peru.   • The Huacachina: is an oasis located five kilometers west of the city of Ica, in Peru; Presents itself as a true natural oasis in the middle of the white sands of the coastal desert of Peru.
  • Circuit of Costa Verde beaches: Known simply as Costa Verde, it is the meeting point of all the limeños and tourists who wish to enjoy a pleasant moment, especially in the summer time.
  • Pachacamac: It is the most important pre-Hispanic sanctuary of the central coast of Peru, located 31 km south of Lima, in the Lurín Valley, is one of the largest and most important archaeological sites in Peru.
  • Huaca Pucllana: It is an archaeological site belonging to the Lima culture, from the period of regional development (200 – 700 AD), located in the district of Miraflores, province of Lima, capital of the Republic of Peru.

The Peruvian sierra

On the other side of the country lies the mountain range and also the jungle: Within the archaeological centers that we find in this side of the country are:

  • Machu Picchu is located in the mountain range of the country, specifically in Cusco.
  • The Sacred Valley of the Incas: It is a valley in the Andes of Peru, near the Inca capital of Cusco. The Valley is generally understood to include everything Pisac, Chinchero and Ollantaytambo, parallel to the Urubamba River or Vilcanota or Wilcamayu River, as this sacred river is called as it passes through the valley.

  • Chullpas de Sillustani Puno: Located on the shores of Lake Umayo, 34 km from Puno, this archaeological site is made up of almost 90 chullpas or ayawasis (houses of the dead) built with large carved blocks of volcanic stone.
  • Lake Titicaca the largest lake in South America: Located at 3856 meters above sea level, Peru and Bolivia share the sovereignty over Lake Titicaca, it is one of the highest lakes in the world and the second more Large in South America, with an annual temperature of 9º C.
  • Uros Floating Islands Puno: It is one of the most famous islands of Lake Titicaca, is located 6 km from the port of Puno and at 3,812 m.s.n.m. Is a surprising archipelago of 40 islands of totora (species of reed that grows in the swampy lands of South America).

The Peruvian jungle

  • Pacaya Samiria National Reserve: It is a spectacular source of natural wealth, created in 1982 to protect the Paiche. It is located 185 kilometers from the city of Iquitos, between the Marañón and Ucayali rivers, in the province of Requena. It covers 2,080,000 hectares of marsh forests: the largest conservation unit in Peru.
  • Manu National Park: The Manu Biosphere Reserve is located in the southwest of Peru, partially located in the regions of Madre de Dios and Cusco, in the provinces of Manu and Paucartambo.
  • Tambopata-Candamo National Reserve: In Peru, the Tambopata-Candamo Nature Reserve is located between the jungles of Madre de Dios and Puno, about 60 kilometers from the city of Puerto Maldonado and more than 1,600 kilometers away.
  • Sandoval Lake Tambopata: Located 8 kilometers from Puerto Maldonado. It is located on the right bank of the Madre de Dios river; In its surroundings there are marshy areas where the tree grows.
