Peru prepares tourist campaign in Cajamarca

Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported Monday that it will analyze, along with some tourist operators and airlines, some measures to be taken to recover the losses generated in the tourism sector after the protests that occurred in Cajamarca.

"Now that the public order was restored, we will start working with operators and airlines to see what steps we can take to benefit the region," Deputy Minister of Tourism Claudia Cornejo pointed out.

She noted that the activities are returning to normal after Peruvian President Ollanta Humala declared a state of emergency on Sunday in the provinces of Celendin, Hualgayoc and Contumaza, situated in the mentioned department.

"Today the population is doing all their activities as usual, they´re going to work and opening businesses, we hope everything returns to normal," Cornejo stated.

Likewise, Mincetur is making assessments to determine the level of losses in the tourism sector due to the 11-day stoppages.
