Flow of domestic flight passengers in Peru up 17.55% in Jan-Oct 2011

Air traffic in domestic flights totaled 5’150,388 passengers between January and October of 2011, 14.70 percent up from 4’490,348 the same period last year, the General Administration of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) reported Wednesday.

Only in October 550,777 passengers were transported, which represents an increase of 3.66 percent over 531,307 passengers the same month in 2010.

“Every October from 2002 through 2011, domestic air traffic has seen an upward trend without interruptions.”

The most popular destinations in said month were Cusco with 153,761 passengers (a 2.84 percent growth over October 2010), followed by Arequipa with 89,378 (-4.68 percent), Iquitos with 56,592 (-6.95 percent), and Piura with 39,573 passengers (10.15 percent).

In the same month, 260,169 passengers boarded planes at Lima’s international airport, a 4.58 percent compared to October last year.
