First tourism virtual fair attracted 1,859 visitors

The first edition of Peru’s Domestic Tourism Virtual Fair, and the first of its kind in Latin America, held on November 28 and 29 attracted 1,859 people involved in this industry, Peru’s export and tourism promotion agency Promperu reported Wednesday. The fair’s main objective was to encourage negotiations between suppliers (airlines, lodging establishments and service providers) and intermediaries of services (wholesalers, operators and travel agencies), and packages in the country.

The event was attended by officials of the Foreign Trade and Tourism directorates of Ayacucho, Amazonas, Ica, Puno, San Martin; as well as of the regional government of Arequipa; and the Destination Management Organization of Arequipa and of Puno.

The fair gathered travel agencies, touri operators and businessmen from Lima, Cusco, Arequipa, La Libertad, Puno, Piura, Cajamarca, Ancash, Lambayeque y Junin, who visited the virtual stands exchanging ideas and suggestions with the speakers through chat and downloading information on destinations and rates.

The second Domestic Tourism Virtual Fair will take place from December 16 to 19 and will count with the participation of major suppliers of tourism services.

These fairs are organized by Travel Update, the Association of Hotels and Restaurants (Ahora) and the Peruvian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Apavit).
