Chiclayo´s gastronomic fair to promote local products

Chiclayo, Nov. 26 (ANDINA). The city of Chiclayo, in northern Peru, will host the first “Sazon Peru” gastronomic festival with the main purpose to promote high value nutritional products from Labambayeque, event organizers reported Friday. Mauricio Serrudo, director of the Hotel Management and Services School at Universidad Catolica de Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo, noted that the event will showcase the varied and delicious gastronomy of Lambayeque, which is well known nationally and internationally. Some 3,000 people will be able to taste the variety of typical dishes from the Peruvian Coast, Highlands and Jungle such as cebiche, causa, lomo saltado, and arroz con pato a la chiclayana among others, Serrudo said. Some 30 stands will be installed in the university campus and dishes will cost between five and ten soles. In addition, the official program includes the presentation of Peruvian paso horses, typical dances, peña criolla (African Peruvian music) and several musical groups. Event coordinator Gabriela Garcia said that well-known restaurants such as Fiesta, Huariques (low-priced eateries with good quality food) and local culinary schools will participate in the festival. She mentioned that there will be a stand promoting edible mushrooms from the rural community of Marayhuaca, located in the high Andean Incahuasi district, in Ferreñafe province.
