CADE 2011 to generate US$10mln to Cusco’s tourism sector

The arrival of 5000 people in Peru’s south Andean department of Cusco to attend the Annual Conference of Executives (CADE) 2011 will generate revenues worth US$10 million, Peru’s National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) reported Thursday.

The head of Canatur, Carlos Canales, stated that expectation are high as a total of 2,000 attendees, among executives and entrepreneurs, have been registered and are expected to spend about US$1,500 during their stay.

In addition, 1,000 guests, who have come as companions would spend around US$1,000.

Meanwhile, the remaining 2,000, made up by people who provide security services, journalists, and technicians, among others have budgeted to spend between US$800 and US$1,000.

According to Canales, tourist circuits have been designed so that participants and their companions can visit the main attractions in Cusco such as the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu, among others.
