500 tour packages sold in Arequipa on occasion of Dakar Rally

Lima, Jan. 12.

About 500 tour packages were sold to Peruvian and foreign visitors on the occasion of the 2012 Dakar Rally, which will pass through Peru’s southern Arequipa region on Thursday, Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Avit) reported. President of Avit in Arequipa Eddy Carpio noted that the cost of said packages range between 35 and 60 dollars, depending on the observation point chosen by the customer.

Carpio stated that most of visitors who have bought the packages are from Arequipa and neighboring departments, as well as foreigners from Ecuador, Bolivia and Chile.

The service includes round trip transportation to the observation points, guides, security staff and food.

There are five observation points in Arequipa where visitors can watch all participating units of this international event, considered as the world’s most grueling race.
