Arrive in Lima - Day 01
You will be greeted by one of our friendly drivers upon your arrival to Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru. From there you will be driven in comfort by private car to either the Marriot at Larcomar, Miraflores Park Plaza Hotel or the Swissotel, depending on what you have chosen. All these fine deluxe hotels are located in the most exclusive, upscale residential and commercial districts of Lima. Our driver will not leave until you are checked in to your hotel.
Lima City Tour - Day 02
Lima, Capital of Perú. Altitude 150 meters above sea level .
After breakfast you will be met at your hotel to begin our guided tour of Lima, the fabulous "City of the Kings". We will be visiting the Plaza Mayor de Lima and the 16th century Cathedral of gold, followed by a tour of the catacombs at the Convento de San Francisco and the Museum of Gold. These are the most popular tourist attractions in Lima. We will end our tour in one of the wealthiest residential and most beautiful districts in Lima, Miraflores. There we will visit the only pre-Inca ruin remaining there, Huaca Pucllana. Constructed in the 2nd century AD it was considered by the Incas as a "Sacred Town" and was a busy ceremonial and administrative center.
Throughout the day you will be having lunch at the luxurious the Rosa Nautica restaurant and Dining at the wonderful Rafael Restaurant.
Lima - Puerto Maldonado - Reserva Amazonica - Day 03
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Puerto Maldonado. Reception at the airport and transfer by canoe to the luxurious Reserva Amazonica jungle lodge. Packed lunch on the canoe. Travelling through virgin rain forest. An introductory walk into the forest behind the lodge which is dominated by giant Brazil-nut and Dipteryx trees. Frequently seen mammals on the trail are Saddle-back Tamarins, Brown Capuchins and Agoutis. Toucans and many other species of birds are also commonly sighted. Return for dinner, followed by a guided night walk to find nocturnal animals.
Reserva Amazonica - Palma Real Native Comunity -Day 04
After traveling by boat for one and a half hours towards the Bolivian Border, you arrive at the Palma Real native village, home to some 70 Ese' Eja families.
A two-hour visit offers you an insight into the traditions and culture of this indigenous ethnic group, whose simple dwellings inspired the design of the Reserva Amazonica lodge. You will learn their lifestyle and livelihood, hunting and farming techniques, and the challenges the Ese'Eja face in a changing world.
Reserva Amazonica - Gamitana Creek - Day 05
A 35-minute motorboat ride from the lodge takes you to the magic world of Gamitana Creek. The sights, scents and sounds of the jungle will surround you as you walk for two and a half hours, rambling through the rain forest along the banks of this winding, dark-water creek that is home to piranha, caimans, turtles and an abundance of brightly colored birds.
When you reach the embarkation point, board a canoe and navigate your way back downstream, appreciating the rich plant and animal life along the way. You will return to Gamitana Farm in time for a well earned picnic lunch, followed by a short guided tour to learn about the workings of this farm.
